Steve Fryatt has done an extensive piece on Tracing Problems in !Boot.

This largely involves use of Martin Avison's Reporter application. Such problems can be tricky to trace otherwise, since errors can either quickly flash by, or cause the boot sequence to prematurely abort.

This is of particular relevance right now, as changing versions of RISC OS, or putting work around in your boot sequence can have side effects if not done carefully.

Following feedback from Martin Avison, the piece has now been updated a little to take account of some possible pitfalls that he has been made aware of over the years.

I have also added details of the built-in SysLog boot log in RISCOS Ltd's versions of RISC OS, to make it a more complete resource.
