Charm version 2.3 the set of high level language tools and demos for RISC-OS computers and emulators is now freely available under the terms of the GNU GPLv3 license.

Via the Charm web-site you can:

  • Download the latest Charm installation.
  • Learn about the Charm tools and how to use them.
  • Run the Charm demos for yourself.
  • Quickly write powerful, compact and efficient user applications and modules.

This maintenance release features new run time libraries and assembler in-lining. The Charm editor has been made easier to use, and on-line documentation has been updated.

Simply unpack the charm directory from the download archive using !SparkPlug into on to the root of your RISC-OS hard drive taking care to save any user projects from a previous release beforehand. Please feel free to leave feedback on the site forum. See the Charm web site for more information.

  Charm version 2.3.1 released...

This follow on interim release fixes an issue with the compiler when an attempt is made to use an undeclared name (the error is correctly located and reported instead of the compiler exiting with an "object has nil type" message).

Additionally, drag and drop of directories as well as files on to the Charm shell is now supported for bulk builds and edits. See the Install page of the web site for the release archive and further information.

  Charm version 2.3.2 released...

Another compiler bug fixed preventing the allocation of stack based arrays with sizes large enough to cause the stack frame allocation not to fit inside a small ARM constant.

Now you can drag the charm folder on to the icon bar Charm shell and it will rebuild the whole of Charm, or if you hold down the shift key and have allocated sufficient Task memory you can edit all of the Charm source in one operation!
