Now that I've managed to get !PDF working I thought I'd have a go at adding
some more functionality. Next i'm going to try adding 'bitmap' mode. This
uses freetype for the font rendering so should display PDF files much more
accurately.

So far I've managed  to get  a working command line program outputting
pages as sprite files. I've uploaded it here
http://www.cgransden.co.uk/pdftospr.zip in case anyone wants to try it.
