Layout is good, but it's very wordy - I think it's not friendly to navigate as you have to read so many words (I end up just reading the blue link text, but the links are scattered so you have to move your eyes a lot to read them). Caliston 13:50, 2 April 2008 (BST)

Yes, I think you're right. This matches with Jymbob and Simon's comments too. See: Site redesign and http://www.riscos.info/pipermail/gcc/2008-March/004297.html

Of course, the thing is, if we reduce the front page to a minimalist one (which I think is the right course of action) then someone has to do more work constructing sub-pages with the wider range of links on them :-/

Yeah, but assuming the Wiki continues to grow, that will become necessary sooner or later anyway. Simon Smith 23:06, 2 April 2008 (BST)

OK. I've had a go at tidying up some of the sections notably in the user column. Thoughts?

Also, Adam: would you like me to wikify your tables? (o: Jymbob 14:15, 4 April 2008 (BST)

Yep, I think your changes look good. Feel free to remove the HTML if that's the best way forward :) I'm probably going to be offline for the next 10 days...

Page looks better now. I don't object to descriptive text if that's what it is, but before it was trying to *be* the link text. I think it would work if all the headings were links - 'Recommended Software' is a link, so should 'GCCSDK', 'RISC OS Information' etc, etc. Something like this completely randomly selected website. Some would need subsidiary contents pages, but that's fine. I've never been entirely happy with putting articles like Unicode in RISC OS on the front page, as the Unicode article's always been a semi-stub, but there's no better place to link from ATM if you want people to find it.

Possibly also this can be hierarchical: 'General RISC OS Information' links to a page that has everything that Main1a/Users has, plus extra links added below. Your 'click for more' link is good and would take people to the same page.
